Inner West Hunters Club Code of Conduct
All members are required to follow the code of conduct for ethical and safe
hunting.

As a hunter I will consider myself an invited guest of the Landowner or
Manager, seeking his permission to use the property. Insuring myself and my
companions conduct ourselves in a manner befitting members of the Inner
West Hunters Club.

All members are to obey the rules of safe firearms handling.

All members must comply with the current firearm laws and regulations as
pertaining to the relevant state that the member is hunting within.

Members are to improve their skills in bush craft and marksmanship as to
ensure humane harvesting of game.

All members are to ensure that they consider conservation of wildlife as to
ensure sustainable use of Australia's natural resources.

All members are to ensure that they pass on basic knowledge, conservation,
bush craft and firearms safety to the young hunters of the future.

All members must ensure only "fair chase"whilst hunting.

All game must be killed humanly.

All members are to obey all the rules that may be prescribed by the
committee of management as may be passed from time to time.
Firearm Safety Charter
All members are required to follow the Firearm Safety Charter for safe and
responsible hunting.

Treat every firearm as loaded at all times.

Always point the muzzle of the firearm in a safe direction.

Do not use alcohol or drugs when handling firearms.

Never leave a firearm unattended.

Never have a loaded firearm in the car, boat or home.

Always handle the firearm by the butt or frame with the muzzle pointed in a
safe direction.

Never lean a loaded firearm against any object.

Always engage the safety catch when not firing, but do not rely on it.

Positively identify your target and what lies behind it. If in doubt do not
shoot.

Never shoot over the top of hills or ridges.

Never fire at hard surfaces or over water.

Store firearms and ammunition separately.

Do not climb fences or obstacles or jump over objects with loaded firearms.

Use only the correct ammunition for your firearm.

If the firearm fails to fire on pull of the trigger, wait ten seconds,
be sure the muzzle and breech are in a safe direction. Open the breech with
safety in mind as a delayed ignition may take place and dispose of the
defective ammunition in a safe place.

Make sure the barrel is clear of any obstruction before firing, especially
after a fall.

Do not alter or modify your firearm yourself. Leave it to a qualified person.
